GREAT LAKES PLASTICS

HiTec Grain Bags

Thicker, grain-specific HiTec storage bags in six listed sizes, each 9.5 mil thick.

HiTec grain and silage storage bag in a harvested field with a white and black film-layer cutaway

HiTec Grain Bags use a grain-specific formulation for storing harvested grain, rather than the silage formulation used for forage fermentation. The grain bag is the thicker variation; all six listed Great Lakes Plastics grain-bag options are 9.5 mil thick. The sealed bag creates a low-oxygen, carbon-dioxide-rich environment that helps preserve stored grain. HiTec lists applications including wheat, barley, sorghum, maize, soybeans, rice, oats, rye and legumes. Manufacturer capacity references are approximate and include separate values for tons of grain and bushels of wheat. Choose a listed diameter and length, then confirm bagger fit, grain conditions and availability with your quote.

Frequently asked questions

Are the bushel capacities applicable to every grain?

No. HiTec's published bushel reference is for wheat. Do not apply those figures directly to maize, soybeans or other grains; confirm capacity for the grain and bag selected.

Capacity & storage guide

For chopped forage fermentation, choose the separate silage-specific formulation.

Ground footprint means the length of the side-to-side curve the filled bag forms along the ground, not the total storage area. HiTec's figures are indicative and vary with the bagging machine, material and packing pressure.

Use firm, level, well-drained ground and follow the bagger instructions. HiTec specifies a maximum filling stretch of 10%. Grain and silage bags have different loading and sealing instructions.
